Whether you’ve got a free half hour during your lunch break to have a phone call, or an open afternoon to go for a walk in the park, Conversational Companionship is a service that makes it easy to have casual, engaging one on one conversation as a part of your day. It offers you the opportunity to spend pressure-free time exploring your thoughts and ideas with another human being, or to give yourself a break to vent, chat, or gossip with a nonjudgmental, interested listener.
Conversation time can happen over the phone, by video call, or in person (within the Halifax Regional Municipality). We can meet at a library, at a park (weather permitting), or at a mall (home visits are offered only to those who live in staffed long term care homes). If you’d like to meet somewhere like a restaurant, museum, art gallery, or coffee shop, you will be responsible for covering any additional costs to either of us for tickets, admission fees, drinks, food, etc.
Conversational companionship isn’t therapy or life coaching. My focus isn’t on solving problems or setting goals, and I don’t provide mental health treatment. Conversational companionship is in no way a sexual or romantic service, and it does not involve any form of physical or medical care or support. My role as a conversational companion is simply to provide an opportunity for genuine human connection, through time spent together in conversation.
Rates
Phone & Video Call Options
Phone call conversation time is an option anywhere within Canada. Video call conversation time is an option anywhere in the world.
Half hour of conversation time: $ 25
Full hour of conversation time: $ 50
2 hours of conversation time: $ 100
In Person Options
In person conversation time is available anywhere within the Halifax Regional Municipality. On a case by case basis, in person conversation time might be available outside of the HRM within Nova Scotia, with travel time time compensated at a rate of $25/hour of travel.
In person conversation time takes place in free access public places (libraries, parks, malls), or if you prefer to meet at a restaurant, museum, art gallery or coffeeshop, you are responsible for any additional costs incurred by either of us in attending the location (drinks, food, admission fees, tickets, etc.)
Home visits for conversation time are only available to those living in staffed long term care homes.
Full hour of conversation time: $ 70
2 hours of conversation time: $ 120
